32 Contemporary Artists Transform One Room in Downtown Maitland
ORLANDO, March 25, 2010 -- Calling themselves “Maximum Capacity,” 32 contemporary artists from the University of Central Florida will exhibit their work next month in a showroom at The Village at Lake Lily.
The free exhibit will run from Friday, April 9, to Friday, April 16, at the luxury apartment complex, 925 S. Orlando Ave. in Maitland.
Conducting themselves as professional artists, the group has come together to market, design and construct their own gallery opening. Under the supervision of Professor Robert Reedy, the artists have been challenged to transform an alternative space into an art gallery rivaling venues in New York and Los Angeles.
The group came up with the title Maximum Capacity to play on the large number of artists with exceptional talent in an enormous space. As these students gain professional experience through physically marketing and building their own gallery, they will simultaneously bring cultural capital to the Central Florida area.
Due to the generosity and special efforts made by Jon C. Wood, President of Urbanscape Properties Inc., the diverse group of artists are able to create an exciting gallery to display their unique work.
The opening receptions for “Maximum Capacity” will be Friday and Saturday, April 9th and 10th, from 8pm to 12am. The gallery will be open daily Sunday, April 11th through Friday, April16th from 12pm-8pm in the North storefront (next to Lake Lily). For your convenience, there is complimentary parking in the lots surrounding the storefronts and on the first floor of the parking garage.
